• 5.0 out of 5 stars from Kp1114 -- Like a conversation with an honest, wise friend : Wow—a book I wish someone handed me as a 20something… as I was a new Christian, newly married, and a new mom. It may not be have helped me avoid many storms, but my mental state through them sure would have benefitted from having been more prepared! Why don’t more people open up about these parts of life as if they are taboo? Sally does such a wonderful job of not hiding the difficulties of a broken world, yet constantly helping us see that God is right there with us in it—faithful, good, and loving, always. Because, then, people ask, "Are you ok?" Yes, I'm ok, but it's been a particularly challenging (two year) season and it is still hard. Admitting that is not failure or sin. This book was incredibly well-timed- after all of COVID craziness, political division, unrest in the world, and for me, the intense years of mothering young children. I have listened to Sally's podcasts, read her devotional daily, and generally read her books throughout my motherhood journey. I don't always completely relate to her writing--I am not gifted in many areas she is--but this book was exactly what I needed. ( Reviewed in the United States on September 17, 2021 )
